PEACE

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.”— Isaiah 26:3

It was a little surreal last night getting a text from our real estate agent with the listing link to our house.

Our house.

The one that, just two years ago, I walked into and immediately looked at my husband and said, “This is it. This is my house.”

And somehow, it was.

That night, we put in an offer. The next day it was accepted. Boxes were packed. Plans were made.

Life moved forward.

But I had no idea then that this house would become so much more than a place to live.

It became my meeting place with Jesus.

Most of my life, home has not always felt peaceful. There has been chaos. Tension. Noise. Emotional exhaustion. And maybe that is why moving never really bothered me the way it seems to bother other people. I became good at leaving. Good at adapting. Good at starting over.

But this house was different.

This house felt like rest.

Not because life suddenly became perfect inside these walls, because it didn’t. Hard seasons still came. Tears still came. Questions still came. But this was the first place that truly felt like peace to me.

When the world outside felt loud, this house felt steady.

When life felt uncertain, this house reminded me to breathe.

When my heart was overwhelmed, this became the place where I could hear Him again.

So no, deciding to sell it has not been easy for me.

Not because it is just beautiful, although it is. Not because it has the pool or the land or the dream-home feeling attached to it. But because of what happened here spiritually.

Because this house held pieces of me while God was healing them.

And last night, staring at those listing photos, I realized something: the peace I found here was never actually tied to the property itself.

It was what God built inside me while I lived here.

That changes everything.

Because while I cannot pick this house up and carry it to California, I can carry what the Lord established here.

The quiet.

The healing.

The obedience.

The presence of God that met me in ordinary moments over and over again.

I used to think obedience would always feel inspiring and exciting. But sometimes obedience feels like grieving something you deeply love while trusting God enough to let it go anyway.

And that is where I am right now.

Grateful.

Heartbroken.

Hopeful.

At peace.

All at the same time.

I will never forget this house.

It may very well have been my dream home, just planted in the wrong state, far away from the people I love most. And if I could somehow transport this exact house, this exact yard, this exact feeling, and take it with me, I probably would.

But maybe that is what God has been teaching me all along.

Peace was never the address.

Peace was never the square footage, the backyard, the pool, or the quiet street.

Peace was His presence.

And His presence is not staying behind when I leave.

So now, with a grateful heart and open hands, I get to hand this home to the next family. I pray they feel what we felt here. I pray they find rest here. I pray laughter fills these rooms, healing meets them in unexpected places, and the presence of God settles into every corner.

This house was a gift.

It was the place where God met me.

And now, I am learning that peace is not something I have to leave behind.

Peace is Someone I get to carry with me.

My Prayer:

Lord,

Thank You for this home. Thank You for every quiet moment, every prayer whispered here, every tear You collected, and every piece of healing that happened inside these walls.

Thank You for being the true source of peace.

As we step into a new season, help me remember that Your presence is not tied to a location. It goes before us. It surrounds us. It remains with us.

Give me the courage to obey even when it hurts.

Give me peace in the transition.

And bless the family that will walk through these doors next. Let this home be filled with love, safety, laughter, and Your presence for years to come.

Amen.
